The XPS with the most approved applications

With Styrodur®, BASF draws on 50 years of experience in the XPS market: this green insulation has been demonstrating its quality in countless construction projects since 1964. Styrodur’s properties aren’t all that excel. As a result of years spent pursuing approvals, there are more officially approved uses for Styrodur than for any other XPS product in the market. This provides complete security for planning projects across the entire range of applications.

In seismically active areas:

  • The only approved insulation for seismically active areas
  • Excellent ability to dissipate horizontal forces, thanks to favorable compressive shear features
  • First choice for all applications in which elements are subjected to pressure

As load-dissipating foundation slabs:

  • The first insulation to be approved for dissipating horizontal forces. It can also be used in multiple layers without supplementary constructive measures
  • Suitable for installation in one to three layers
  • Permissible insulation thickness with single-layer installation: up to 200 mm
  • Permissible insulation thickness with multi-layer installation: up to 300 mm

As perimeter insulation:

  • For installation in one to three layers
  • Permissible insulation thickness with single-layer installation: up to 200 mm
  • Permissible insulation thickness with multi-layer installation: up to 400 mm
  • Also in pressing groundwater down to immersion depths of 3.50 m

Inverted roofs:

  • For installation in one or two layers
  • Permissible insulation thickness with single-layer installation: up to 200 mm
  • Permissible insulation thickness with two-layer installation: up to 400 mm
  • Single-layer installation is also suited for applications under pressure, e.g. rooftop parking lots and planted and asphalt-covered roofs
